What you will do:
You will oversee daily farming operations including planting, irrigation, pest and disease control, and harvesting across the company's farm holdings. This involves supervising a team of farm workers and casual labourers, assigning daily tasks, and ensuring that work is carried out according to the established crop calendar. You will monitor crop health through regular field inspections, identify pest or disease outbreaks early, and coordinate with the agronomist to implement appropriate control measures. Record-keeping is a critical part of the role: you will maintain logs of all activities, inputs used, and outputs harvested. The position also involves managing irrigation schedules to ensure optimal water use, particularly during dry spells, and coordinating with the procurement team to ensure that fertilisers, seeds, and chemicals are available when needed. You will be expected to enforce health and safety standards on the farm and ensure that all workers use personal protective equipment as required.
