Westfield Holdings is an agricultural processing and export company that deals in macadamia nuts, coffee, and avocados. The company runs three processing facilities in Embu, Meru, and Murang'a and works directly with over 12,000 smallholder farmers through contract farming arrangements. Founded in 2002, Westfield exports to markets in Europe, China, the Middle East, and the United States. The company holds GlobalGAP, Rainforest Alliance, and organic certifications for its supply chains. Westfield employs 280 permanent staff and up to 1,500 seasonal workers during peak harvest periods.

What you will do:

You will support the legal department in drafting and reviewing commercial contracts, preparing legal opinions, and managing regulatory compliance matters. Daily tasks include conducting legal research, maintaining the company's contract management system, and ensuring that all contracts are executed in accordance with internal approval processes. The role also involves assisting with litigation matters, including preparing court documents, liaising with external advocates, and tracking case timelines. You will monitor changes in legislation and regulations that affect the company's operations and advise management on compliance requirements. Experience in corporate law, banking law, or employment law is valuable. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal colleagues.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline; a Master's degree is an added advantage
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate organisational goals into actionable plans
  • Professional certification in the relevant field (e.g. CPA, PMP, CIPS, or equivalent)
  • Experience managing budgets and reporting to senior leadership
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills

Requirements:

If you meet the above qualifications and are interested in this opportunity, send your updated CV and a brief cover letter explaining why you are a good fit for the role.
