Overview

The Travel & Visa Operations Supervisor provides leadership and oversight for travel and visa services across the Africa West Area. The incumbent ensures compliance with travel, immigration, financial, and regulatory requirements while delivering efficient, cost-effective, and customer-focused services. The role supervises travel operations, manages travel-related risks and emergencies, coordinates regional service delivery, and drives continuous improvement in travel and visa processes.

Role

This position is the primary resource for training and experience in booking tickets, tariffs, routings, visa work, passports, and other travel-related items. This position manages, trains, and coordinates day-to-day travel functions. Ensures that all travel processes and policies are appropriately followed and that appropriate work quality is accomplished, including receiving the lowest possible fares, compliance with negotiated agreements and contracts, proper accounting and adherence to government regulatory regulations, etc. This position assists in ensuring that all global travel key performance measures are accomplished and consistently identifies and provides solutions to both local and global challenges. This position must keep informed of changes and trends in the travel industry.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Operations Management

    • Supervise, coach, and develop travel and visa personnel to ensure high-quality service delivery.
    • Monitor performance standards, service quality, and operational effectiveness across travel and visa operations.
    • Identify and implement process improvements, operational efficiencies, and best practices.

    Travel & Visa Compliance

    • Ensure compliance with immigration, visa, travel, financial, and governmental requirements.
    • Maintain effective relationships with embassies, consulates, government agencies, and travel service providers.
    • Oversee adherence to approved travel policies, negotiated vendor contracts, and accounting procedures.

    Emergency Travel Management

    • Lead response efforts during travel emergencies, including evacuations, civil unrest, stranded travelers, lost travel documents, medical emergencies, and missionary-related travel incidents.
    • Coordinate with Church leaders, government authorities, travel providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of critical situations.

    Regional Coordination & Stakeholder Support

    • Coordinate travel and visa services across multiple countries and administrative units.
    • Provide expert guidance to leaders, employees, missionaries, volunteers, and travel coordinators on travel and visa matters.
    • Manage vendor relationships and monitor service provider performance to ensure quality, reliability, and value.

Requirements

  • Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Worthy of Temple Recommend
  • Bachelor's degree in Travel & Tourism, Hospitality, Business Administration, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in travel management, tourism, project management, or related disciplines are an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in travel operations, visa management, or travel services.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Experience working with international travel regulations, visa processes, travel vendors, and reservation systems.
