TSC Warns Public Against Fake Recruitment Notice for 46,000 Teaching Jobs

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has raised an alert over a counterfeit advertisement currently making rounds on social media, which falsely claims that the Commission is hiring 46,000 teachers on permanent and pensionable terms.

In an official statement released on Monday, June 15, TSC confirmed that the document being shared widely—allegedly listing thousands of vacancies in primary, junior, and secondary schools—did not originate from the Commission.

“Reference is made to the above circulating poster. Please note that the information is misleading and fake,” the statement read.

The Commission further advised the public to completely ignore the fraudulent notice and to trust only information published through its official platforms, including the TSC website and its verified handles on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).

Job applicants were also reminded to remain vigilant against scams circulating online, stressing that every legitimate recruitment announcement is formally released and publicly gazetted.

“You are always advised to rely on official communication relayed through the TSC official channels,” the notice emphasized.

This latest hoax adds to a rising wave of false communications targeting the TSC, coinciding with heightened tensions within the education sector over teacher welfare and job terms.

The fake poster has drawn significant attention from educators who have been anxiously awaiting policy updates regarding employment security and working conditions.

Notably, the fraudulent notice appears to exploit an ongoing and highly sensitive debate concerning the fate of intern teachers in Kenya.

The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has, over recent months, aggressively campaigned for the conversion of intern teachers to permanent and pensionable status, backed by strike actions and repeated formal demands.

The issue continues to be a major source of concern for educators, who argue that intern teachers currently shoulder a heavy teaching load without long-term job guarantees.

The latest warning from TSC comes just days after Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi announced that 24,000 recently recruited intern teachers would be transitioned to permanent and pensionable terms beginning in July 2027.
