Nairobi Water Announces 24-Hour Supply Interruption in Several Areas
Nairobi, June 20, 2026 — Nairobi Water has announced a temporary interruption of water supply affecting several parts of the city and surrounding areas following a leakage on the NCT Raw Water Pipeline near Kigoro Treatment Works.
According to a public notice issued by the utility company, the disruption will affect residents and businesses in Westlands, Lavington, Kilimani, Upperhill, Ngong Road, Madaraka, Langata, Kibera, Karen, Uthiru, Kawangware, Kangemi, Ruai, Ngundu, Kamulu, as well as customers served by MAVWASCO and Oloolaiser Water Company.
The interruption is scheduled to begin at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, and is expected to last until 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2026, a period of 24 hours.
Nairobi Water advised customers in the affected areas to store sufficient water for both domestic and commercial use ahead of the shutdown period.
The company said its technical teams are working to repair the damaged pipeline and restore normal water supply as soon as the maintenance work is completed.
