Riverside Enterprises is a waste management and environmental services company that provides garbage collection, recycling, and waste-to-energy solutions in Nairobi and its environs. Founded in 2010, the company collects waste from over 50,000 households and 2,000 commercial premises daily. Riverside operates a material recovery facility that processes 200 tonnes of waste per day, diverting approximately forty percent from landfill through recycling and composting. The company employs 600 staff and runs a fleet of sixty collection trucks. Riverside is licensed by NEMA and is a member of the Kenya Waste Management Network.
What you will do:
You will support the legal department in drafting and reviewing commercial contracts, preparing legal opinions, and managing regulatory compliance matters. Daily tasks include conducting legal research, maintaining the company's contract management system, and ensuring that all contracts are executed in accordance with internal approval processes. The role also involves assisting with litigation matters, including preparing court documents, liaising with external advocates, and tracking case timelines. You will monitor changes in legislation and regulations that affect the company's operations and advise management on compliance requirements. Experience in corporate law, banking law, or employment law is valuable. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal colleagues.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional qualification in a related field
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience in a similar position
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Proficiency in relevant industry software and tools
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work across teams
- Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices
