Sterling & Co is a full-service law firm founded in 1998 and based in Nairobi with a branch office in Mombasa. The firm has a team of twenty-two advocates and handles corporate and commercial law, banking and finance, real estate transactions, employment disputes, and family law. Sterling & Co acts as external counsel to six commercial banks, three insurance companies, and a number of Saccos and microfinance institutions. What you will do:
You will be responsible for ensuring that the company complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. This involves conducting compliance risk assessments, developing and updating compliance policies and procedures, and delivering compliance training to staff across the organisation. The role includes monitoring compliance with anti-money laundering regulations, data protection requirements, and industry-specific regulatory standards. You will prepare compliance reports for the board of directors, manage regulatory filings and submissions, and coordinate with external regulators during inspections and audits. The position requires a thorough understanding of the regulatory landscape in which the company operates and the ability to develop practical compliance solutions that balance regulatory requirements with business objectives.
- Diploma in a relevant field from a recognised institution
- Minimum 1 year of working experience in a similar role
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Kiswahili
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Must be a Kenyan citizen aged 21 years or above
