3,000 Casual Worker Jobs at Mombasa County Public Service Board

The Mombasa County Public Service Board has announced 3,000 temporary job opportunities for casual workers and general labourers under its Transport and Infrastructure and Environment and Solid Waste Management programmes.

The recruitment targets workers who can support drainage maintenance, waste collection and other activities in different parts of Mombasa County.

1. Transport and Infrastructure – Casual Workers / General Labourers – 1,500 Posts

A total of 1,500 positions are available for workers supporting storm-water drainage maintenance.

Key Duties

Successful applicants will assist with:

• Clearing blocked and partially blocked storm-water drains and channels.
• Removing silt, vegetation, litter and other materials from drainage systems.
• Clearing accessible culvert entrances and outlets.
• Taking removed materials to designated collection points.
• Identifying damaged drainage infrastructure and reporting it to technical officers.

The teams will work under the supervision of the Department of Transport and Infrastructure.

Requirements

Applicants should:

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Have a valid Kenyan National Identity Card.
• Hold an Artisan Certificate or another relevant qualification, or KCSE and/or KCPE certificate.
• Be physically and mentally capable of performing outdoor and demanding duties.
• Be ready to work at any designated location within Mombasa County.
• Be available throughout the temporary engagement period.
• Follow instructions from assigned supervisors.

2. Environment and Solid Waste Management – Casual Workers / General Labourers – 1,500 Posts

Another 1,500 positions are available under the Environment and Solid Waste Management programme.

Key Duties

Workers will be responsible for:

• Collecting waste and debris removed from drainage systems.
• Loading waste onto designated County or contracted waste trucks.
• Sweeping and cleaning work areas.
• Ensuring collected waste does not return to drainage channels.
• Supporting the transportation of waste to approved disposal, recovery or temporary handling facilities.

The teams will operate under the technical supervision of the Department of Environment and Waste Management.

Requirements

Applicants should:

• Be 18 years or older.
• Possess a valid National Identity Card.
• Have an Artisan Certificate or relevant qualification, or KCSE and/or KCPE.
• Be physically and mentally fit for outdoor and physically demanding work.
• Be willing to work anywhere within Mombasa County.
• Be available for the full temporary engagement period.
• Follow instructions provided by designated supervisors.
