UAL Home Postgraduate £7,000 Scholarships

University of the Arts London (UAL) is offering 200 Home Postgraduate Scholarships for the 26/27 academic year. This scholarship provides a £7,000 fee waiver for a full-time or part-time taught master’s course at one of UAL’s Colleges and Institutes. The scholarship offers two routes of application, each with different eligibility criteria.

If you think you meet the criteria for both Route 1 and Route 2, you should complete each scholarship application form to be considered for both.

Eligibility Criteria

Route 1 — Means

All applicants who meet the scholarship’s financial eligibility criteria and course entry requirements will be offered the scholarship. To be eligible to apply you must:

  • Be confirmed as a Home student for tuition fee purposes. EU and other non-UK nationals who qualify for the Home tuition fee status will also be eligible to apply.
  • Hold an offer to study a full-time or part-time taught master’s course at one of UAL’s Colleges and Institutes. Courses run by UAL Online are not eligible for this scholarship. Your course must offer either a Grad Dip, MArch, MA, MBA, MFA, MRes or MSc qualification.
  • Be in receipt of a means-tested benefit at the time of application, to include Universal Credit, or have previously received student funding from UAL or your previous university awarded based on financial hardship, or have previously been in care for more than 13 weeks spanning your 16th birthday.

Route 2 — Merit

Route 2 scholarships are awarded on merit by a UAL selection panel, who make their decision based on the evidence provided in your application. To be eligible to apply you must:

  • Be confirmed as a Home student for tuition fee purposes. EU and other non-UK nationals who qualify for the Home tuition fee status will also be eligible to apply.
  • Hold an offer to study a full-time or part-time taught master’s course at one of UAL’s Colleges and Institutes excluding UAL Online courses. Your course must offer a Grad Dip, MArch, MA, MBA, MFA, MRes or MSc qualification.
  • Have achieved, or are predicted to achieve, an upper second-class honours degree (2:1) or above. Recognised equivalent academic qualifications are accepted. You will need to provide your transcript as proof of your qualification or evidence of your predicted grade.
  • Provide a personal statement which responds to specific questions.

Personal Statement Questions for Route 2

Your personal statement must answer the following questions with a maximum of 350 words per question:

  • Please tell us about how your achievements and experience gained both within and outside of school or university demonstrate your suitability for this award.
  • Please tell us how you intend to use the qualification you will be studying to support your future plans.
  • What contribution do you intend to make to university life whilst studying? How do you feel being part of the UAL community will help you in achieving your career aspirations?

Please note that you are not eligible to apply if you already hold a UK postgraduate taught or equivalent qualification from studies undertaken in the UK or anywhere else in the world.

Application Deadlines and Decision Dates

You will need to hold an offer for your postgraduate course before applying to the Home Postgraduate Scholarship. If you are planning to join a course starting in autumn 2026, it is recommended that you apply for your chosen course before the Round 2 course application deadline on Wednesday 18 March 2026. This ensures you receive your course offer before the scholarship deadline.

Once you have received an offer to study at UAL, the my funding page on your applicant portal will be updated from December 2025 onwards to include the application forms for scholarships you may be eligible for.

  • Course Start Date: September/October/November 2026. Application Deadline: Friday 26 June 2026. Decision Date: Friday 7 August 2026.
  • Course Start Date: January 2027. Application Deadline: Friday 30 October 2026. Decision Date: Thursday 3 December 2026.

Applications can be submitted until 11.59pm UK time on the dates above. Late or incomplete applications from students who have not yet received a course offer will not be accepted.

Scholarship AI Policy

While the university understands the benefits of using AI to help structure responses, applicants are asked to showcase their achievements and aspirations using their own voice. AI tools tend to lack the personal touch and authenticity valued in candidates for these scholarship awards.

Payment and Additional Information

If your application is successful, you will be sent an award letter via email. If you decide to accept the scholarship, you will need to do so via your UAL Portal. Your tuition fees will be raised directly to your fees account in the first year of your course.

For those studying part-time or extended full-time courses where your scholarship award may be more than your Year 1 course fee, the surplus will be used towards your Year 2 fees.

If you are awarded a scholarship and have received offers for more than one UAL course, the award will apply to whichever course offer you accept. If you have successful applications for more than one UAL award or scholarship, you must choose which one you would like to receive, as you are only able to hold one at a time. However, if you apply for both Routes 1 and 2 and are successful for both, you will be allocated the Route 1 Scholarship, and the Route 2 award will be rescinded.
