These technicians will supervise laboratory testing of road construction materials including soils, aggregates, and bitumen.
Principal Engineering Technician (Automotive) – 2 Positions
The role involves supervising automotive equipment maintenance and repair for the department’s vehicle fleet.
Principal Engineering Technician (Mechanical) – 2 Positions
Principal mechanical technicians will oversee mechanical equipment and machinery used in road construction and maintenance.
Senior Instructor – Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology – 16 Positions
Senior instructors will deliver technical training to students and apprentices at KIHBT.
Senior Engineering Technician (Automotive) – 10 Positions
These technicians will diagnose and repair automotive systems in departmental vehicles and equipment.
Senior Engineering Technician (Plant) – 7 Positions
Senior plant technicians will maintain and repair heavy construction plant equipment including graders, bulldozers, and excavators.
Senior Charge Hand Building (Plumbing) – 3 Positions
Senior charge hands supervise plumbing installations and repairs on departmental buildings and facilities.
Senior Charge Hand Building (Carpentry and Joinery) – 3 Positions

Senior Charge Hand (Motor Vehicle Mechanic) – 11 Positions

Engineering Technician Electrical – 1 Position
Electrical technicians will install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in departmental buildings and equipment.
Engineering Technician (Automotive) I – 1 Position
Automotive technicians will perform skilled repairs on departmental vehicles and provide technical guidance to junior technicians.
Engineering Technician Mechanical I – 6 Positions
Mechanical technicians will maintain and repair mechanical systems used in road construction and maintenance.
Entry Level Positions
Driver Instructor III – 7 Positions
Driver instructors will train departmental drivers on safe driving practices, vehicle handling, and traffic regulations. Candidates must have a valid driving license and instructor certification.
Plant Operator Instructor III – 8 Positions
Plant operator instructors will train departmental staff on the safe and efficient operation of heavy construction plant equipment. Candidates must have plant operating experience and instructor qualifications.
