SOS Children’s Villages Kenya Announces Job Vacancies for Reliever Driver and Communications Officer, Plus Expression of Interest for Land Asset Optimization

NAIROBI, Kenya – June 11, 2026 – SOS Children’s Villages Kenya, one of the country’s largest providers of child and youth care, has announced multiple opportunities including two job vacancies and an Expression of Interest (EOI) for individuals or organizations to advise on optimal use of the organization’s land assets.

The organization, which operates independently of political parties and relies on donations, is seeking curious, awesome, and colorful professionals who are committed to accompanying children and young people into the future.

Vacancy 1: Reliever Driver – Nairobi Location

Job Summary

Reporting to the Program Administrator, the Reliever Driver is responsible for safely meeting the transportation needs of the Children’s Village and school. The role carries a high level of responsibility as it involves the safety and well-being of children, staff, and visitors. The position holder must demonstrate professionalism and serve as a positive role model at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Transport Services

  • Drive school buses and organizational vehicles safely and efficiently

  • Transport staff, children, visitors, and official items as directed

  • Record all trips and mileage accurately

  • Ensure vehicles have sufficient fuel at all times

Safety of Children and Staff

  • Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations

  • Ensure safe boarding and disembarking of children

  • Follow planned routes and schedules

  • Respond appropriately in case of accidents or emergencies

Vehicle Maintenance and Security

  • Conduct daily vehicle safety checks

  • Maintain cleanliness and good working condition of vehicles

  • Report defects and ensure timely servicing and repairs

  • Keep accurate maintenance and fuel records

General Duties

  • Uphold SOS Children’s Villages values and safeguarding standards

  • Perform duties in a professional and exemplary manner

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE)

  • Minimum 5 years’ driving experience, preferably in NGOs

  • Valid Commercial / Class D Driving License

  • Defensive Driving Certificate (AA Kenya or equivalent)

  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct

  • First Aid Certificate (minimum one week)

  • Occupational Trade Test III Certificate

  • Clean driving record with no major traffic violations

  • Experience driving a school bus is an added advantage

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation and Storytelling

  • Develop high-quality communication materials including reports, stories, blogs, and multimedia content

  • Produce compelling impact stories and case studies

Digital and Social Media Management

  • Manage all social media platforms and website content

  • Drive engagement, growth, and visibility through digital strategies

Media Relations

  • Build relationships with media houses

Donor Visibility and Project Communications

  • Support communication for donor-funded projects

Strategic Communications and Branding

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in communications or media

  • Strong writing, storytelling, and digital communication skills

  • Experience working in NGOs or the development sector is an added advantage

  • Proficiency in design and multimedia tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite)

  • Visit the said land assets

  • Use their knowledge, experience, and expertise to assess each property

  • Propose the best, most optimal use of each land parcel for maximum financial returns to SOS Children’s Villages Kenya
