Together with Frieze and the National Gallery, Art Fund is delighted to offer 10 fully funded places for UK curators alongside up to 8 international curators funded by Frieze to attend a two day programme exploring a rich range of subjects from transhistorical exhibition making to art market insights. Eligible curatorial professionals are encouraged to review the details below and submit their applications before the deadline.
About The Programme
Through this two day programme in partnership with Frieze and the National Gallery the aim is to bring together a broad cohort of curators from diverse backgrounds to exchange ideas through seminars, talks, workshops and tours. The programme explores different models of working from collection care and development to commercial and vetting practices, to loaning, partnerships and research.
The programme will be led by Dr Jennifer Sliwka, Director of the Picture Gallery of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. Activities include an online pre programme seminar and virtual meet and greet, introduction to the National Gallery and opportunities to meet curatorial and research staff, visits to current exhibitions at the National Gallery, behind the scenes tours of Gallery departments, a keynote speaker in conversation and roundtable discussion, a curators workshop, tours of Frieze Masters, an invitation to an alumni event, an invitation to join the Unexpected View event at the National Gallery, access to Frieze London and Frieze Masters, and opportunities to connect with industry professionals on site at Frieze Masters including galleries, vetters and art advisors.
The Art Fund Curators Programme at Frieze Masters takes place at Regents Park London on Thursday 15 and Friday 16 October. When considering applications applicants are encouraged to undertake their journey in the most environmentally sustainable way possible. What Can Be Funded
Ten bursary places are available for UK museum and gallery professionals. Up to 8 bursary placements are available for international museum and gallery professionals. Travel, 2 nights accommodation and refreshments will be provided.
For UK based curators when completing the budget information only local travel costs and a per diem of £25 need to be input. Frieze will reimburse local travel and the £25 per diem upon receipt of an invoice with a template to be provided by Frieze. Accommodation for two nights will be booked and covered directly by Frieze.
For international curators Frieze will support booking international travel and accommodation for two nights. Frieze will reimburse £25 per diem upon receipt of an invoice with a template to be provided by Frieze. For all participants refreshments including breakfast and lunch will be provided during the programme.
Who Can Apply
Applications are open to all UK and international museum and gallery curatorial professionals whose collections are open to the public. Through the programme the aim is to bring together the next generation of national and international curators from diverse backgrounds, offering a fully funded opportunity for travel and exchange with peers.
Strong encouragement is given to applications from candidates of all backgrounds and identities, particularly those from underrepresented groups within the sector.
Key Dates
Applications should be submitted by midnight on 14 June 2026. Applicants will be notified within 4 weeks. The programme takes place on 15 and 16 October 2026.
